Bangladesh: Minor raped, one person arrested

Dhaka: Bangladesh police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl in country's Tangail area, media reports said.

The incident occurred at Malti village of Narandia union Thursday evening, reported Dhaka Tribune.

The arrested man was identified as Shahidul Islam.

Family members of the girl said, Shahidul lured the girl with chocolates and violated her in a nearby jungle, reported Dhaka Tribune.

Locals rescued the girl and admitted her to Tangail General Hospital.

Kalihati police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hasan Al Mamun told the newspaper: "Shahidul was arrested Thursday night. He was produced before a Tangail court Friday morning." 

A case has been filed in connection with the incident.
