Bangladesh: Police arrest Madrasa teacher for 'raping' minor

Dhaka: Bangladesh police have arrested a madrasa teacher for allegedly raping  a 10-year-old student from Hilful Fuzul Madrasa in the Bishapara area of Hili Hakimpur upazila, media reports said.

The arrestee, Mominul Islam Sujon, 27, is the son of Rafiqul Islam of Chengram village, Dhaka Tribune reported.

Hakimpur police station Officer-in-Charge Ferdous Wahid confirmed the matter with the Dhaka Tribune.

Ferdous further tld the newspaper that the news came by a phone call at night that the locals had detained the madrasa teacher for raping a student. Later, the teacher was brought to the police station, where he confessed to the crime.

Rustam Ali, the victim’s father, filed a written complaint with the local police station about this incident, the newspaper reported.
