Bankrupt Afghan businesswomen urge Taliban rulers for help

Kabul: Afghanistan businesswomen have urged Taliban rulers to solve the challenges they are facing as many of their businesses have gone bankrupt and most of the women have lost their jobs since the previous government fell last year in August.

Fereshta Hashemi, a business woman in Kabul, says she has been embroidering clothes for nearly six years. She claims that many women's businesses have stopped since the political change in the country.

“Our shops and factories have collapsed, women have stayed at home and there is nothing they can do," Fereshta Hashemi told TOLOnews.

She urged the Taliban government to look into the challenges faced by the women businesswomen.

“Factories should be opened, women should be given projects so that they can work side by side with their brothers,” she said.

“We ask the Islamic Emirate to provide jobs for women. Women are living in a bad situation and they need jobs,” Mozhgan Hamidi, a businesswoman, told Tlolo News.
