Benjamin Netanyahu postpones his son's marriage ceremony amid conflict with Iran

The marriage ceremony of Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu's son Avner Netanyahu has been postponed amid nationwide emergency restrictions following the launch of Iran's missile attack, media reports said.

Originally scheduled for Monday, June 16, at the upscale Ronit Farm venue north of Tel Aviv, the high-profile wedding was called off due to ongoing security concerns and Home Front Command regulations, which ban all gatherings under the current emergency status, known as Level 4, reported YNetNews.

According to reports, vendors received a formal cancellation notice on Saturday from the event management company organising the marriage.

A new date for the marriage has not been announced so far.

“Until the last minute, the couple believed the wedding would go on as planned,” a source close to the couple told YNetNews.

“They were shocked. It’s the second time they’ve had to postpone," the source said.

Massive Arrangement For Wedding

The marriage has already triggered a row in Israel, with a large number of people still remaining in Hamas captivity.

Keeping the marriage ceremony in mind and anticipating possible disruption,  a 1.5-kilometer no-fly zone had been established around the venue, with barbed-wire fencing and police checkpoints set up, the news portal said.

Protest groups had previously planned to demonstrate nearby, distributing images of Israeli hostages and blocking access to roads.

Houthis Target Israel

The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen claimed to have launched two ballistic missiles at Israel on Saturday in coordination with Iran, targeting “sensitive Israeli enemy targets” in the Tel Aviv area, media reports said.

As per media reports, at least 10 people were dead while 200 were injured in Iranian barrages.

However, military officials told The Times of Israel that the IDF is not aware of any ballistic missile fire from Yemen in the previous 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Israel's emergency service said four people have been confirmed dead at the site of the strike in central Israel, BBC reported.

A missile launched by the Houthis on Friday hit a Palestinian town in the West Bank, wounding several people.

The group did not take responsibility for the launch.

Meanwhile, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said it completed an extensive series of strikes on targets in Tehran related to the Iranian regime’s nuclear weapons project.

The targets included the Iranian Ministry of Defense headquarters, the headquarters of the SPND nuclear project, and additional targets, it said.
