Berlin: Police officer shoots knife-yielding man

Berlin, June 4 (IBNS): The police on Sunday shot a knife-yielding man in Berlin city of Germany.

According to media reports, the  Austrian man went on a rampage in Berlin Cathedral which led the police to shoot him.

The 53-year-old man was shot in the leg, Berlin police told BBC.

One policeman was injured in the incident.

He has been taken to hospital for treatment.

The police said there was no indication of a terror motive behind the incident.

The official Twitter handle of the Berlin Police read: "The suspects is a 53-year-old man.Evidence of a terrorist or Islamist Tatmotivation is not yet recognizable."

In another tweet, the police said: "At the Berlin Cathedral in #Mitte our college, we shot a rampaging man shortly after 4pm. He was hurt by the legs. The third #Moko of the #LKA is on the way and takes over the investigation. #Bitte avoid speculation-info follow here."
