BJP has 'anti-Pakistan and anti-Muslim' attitude: Imran Khan

Islamabad, Dec 7 (IBNS): Pakistan PM Imran Khan on Friday targeted India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and said it has an 'anti-Pakistan' attitude.

Khan said the ruling party in India has 'anti-Muslim' attitude as well.

Imran Khan, who took oath as the PM of Pakistan recently, claimed the party rejected all his repeated calls for peace since India is just months away from voting to elect a new Parliament.

Speaking to The Washington Post, Khan said: "I know, because India has elections coming up. The ruling party has an anti-Muslim, anti-Pakistan approach. They rebuffed all my overtures."

Reacting to the 2008 Mumbai attacks incident, Khan said: " We also want something done about the bombers of Mumbai. I have asked our government to find out the status of the case. Resolving that case is in our interest because it was an act of terrorism. I have opened a visa-free peace corridor with India called Kartarpur [so that Indian Sikhs can visit a holy shrine in Pakistan]. Let’s hope that after the election is over, we can again resume talks with India. "

The 2008 Mumbai attacks were twelve coordinated shooting and bombing attacks across Mumbai by members of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Ajmal Kasab, the only attacker who was captured alive, later confessed upon interrogation that the attacks were conducted with the support of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Kasab was hanged on Nov 21, 2012 at Yerwada Jail in Pune.

The attacks, which drew widespread global condemnation, began on Wednesday, Nov 26, 2008 and lasted until Saturday, Nov 29, 2008, killing 164 people and wounding at least 308.

Eight of the attacks occurred in South Mumbai - at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the Oberoi Trident, the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, Leopold Cafe, Cama Hospital (a women and children's hospital), the Nariman House Jewish community centre, the Metro Cinema, and a lane behind the Times of India building and St. Xavier's College.

There was also an explosion at Mazagaon, in Mumbai's port area, and in a taxi at Vile Parle.
