Belem, Sept 7 (IBNS): Brazilian presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro was stabbed during a campaign rally in southeastern Brazil on Thursday, media reports said.

Bolsonaro was campaigning for the upcoming presidential elections.

He is now in stable condition at a hospital.

Bolsonaro, the front-runner in the October elections, was sitting on a supporter's shoulders and waiving at the crowd when a person plunged a knife into his abdomen.

He was immediately rushed to a hospital in a dying health condition, media report said.

The stabbing is the second violent incident which occurred during the presidential election campaigns.

In May, several bullets struck busses in a caravan of supporters of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. However, no harm was caused.
