British MP apologises for tweet supporting pro-Khalistan group Sikhs For Justice
Islamabad: British MP Taiwo Owatemi has apologised for her tweet where she supported the banned Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ).
She said the tweet was posted by one of her staff members.
"A small number of individuals emailed me to post a suggested tweet supporting Sikhs for Justice. Unbeknown to me a staff member who helps to run my social media posted the tweet. This has now been deleted. I sincerely apologise for any offence caused to any of my constituents," she tweeted.

Earlier on December 10, the Twitter account of Taiwo posted as quoted by ANI, "I stand with #SikhsForJustice and the Sikh community's right to self-determination on #UNDayOfHumanRights. This is the clearest way that the conflict between Sikhs and the Indian authorities can be resolved."
However, the tweet was later deleted.
The Indian government has banned pro-Khalistan outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) for a period of 5 years.
SFJ was formed with Avtar Singh Pannun as its president and Gurpatwant Singh Pannun as its legal advisor.
The SFJ pushes for Sikh Referendum 2020 as part of its separatist agenda.
