Toronto: The Consulate General of India in Toronto marked India’s 77th Republic Day at the Chancery premises, bringing together members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India for the annual celebrations.

Acting Consul General Kapidhwaja Pratap Singh unfurled the national flag and read out the President of India’s address to the nation. The event featured cultural performances and saw enthusiastic participation from the community.

“I extend my warm greetings to all members of the Indian community. January 26 marks the day when the Constitution of India came into effect, affirming our commitment to democracy, justice, and equality,” he said.

“It is a moment to reflect on the strength of our institutions, the diversity of our people, and the shared values that bind us as a nation,” Singh added.

Referring to India-Canada ties, the Acting Consul General said the Indian community in Canada continues to play a vital role in strengthening bilateral relations.

“Here in Canada, the Indian diaspora continues to be a strong bridge of friendship between our two nations,” he said.
