Canada PM Justin Trudeau to tour US in mid-May, will receive honourary degree

Ottawa, Apr 27 (IBNS): Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be on a three-day visit to the United States in the month of May.

Trudeau will be in the US between May 16 and 18.

The PM, who will be in New York and Boston, will highlight the strong economic partnership between the two countries.

He will also speak regarding the importance of unified works of both Canada and the US to tackle global issues.

Trudeau will speak to the graduates at New York University's 186th commencement ceremony and will also accept a honourary doctor of laws degree.

In Boston, the PM will participate in the Solve at MIT conference along with 300 leaders from businesses, foundations, non-profit organizations, government, academia, and the media.

Regarding his trip to the US, Trudeau said: "We live in a time of tremendous change and face challenges global in scale. Finding solutions shaped across borders, involving every generation, is imperative.

"I look forward to visiting the United States to speak with graduates and those at the forefront of innovation to look at what we can – and must – do to build a better tomorrow for future generations.”

Trudeau had last visited the US in Feb, 2018.

Both the countries share the longest border in the world.
