Ottawa, Jun 15 (IBNS): Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has wished all people on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, which is a Muslim festival.

Trudeau has wished people by giving a message on social media.

Sharing a post on Facebook, Trudeau said: "Assalamualaikum. Today, Muslims in Canada and around the world will celebrate Eid al-Fitr and mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a month of fasting, spiritual reflection, and service to those less fortunate. As Prime Minister, I've gotten to see generosity of the Muslim community firsthand, both during Ramadan and throughout the year, whether its volunteering at a local food bank or supporting a local charity.

"As we celebrate the end of Ramadan, let's continue to put those shared values into practice and build a better Canada for everyone. On behalf of our family, Sophie and I wish all those celebrating a joyful Eid. Eid Mubarak!"

Eid is a Muslim festival which marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.

Muslims fast during Ramadan.
