Canada PM Trudeau announces funding for Halifax expressway

Ottawa/Halifax, Feb 21 (IBNS): Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced federal funding of $86.5 million for the improvement of a busy expressway in Halifax, media reports said.

The fund will help to extend the Highway 107 Burnside Connector.

The money will also help to connect Highways 101, 102 and 118 by building a high-speed bypass.

The connector will "go a long way in making commutes shorter and safer", Trudeau has been quoted by CTV News.

The federal money will add up to the province's announcement of $107 million. Remainder of the money will be provided by the Halifax Regional Municipality.
