Canada police to remove protesters from international crossing

| @indiablooms | Feb 13, 2022, at 06:49 pm

Ottawa/UNI: To bring an end to the six-day blockade of North America's busiest international crossing, Canadian police has tried to clear protesters from Ambassador Bridge across from Detroit.

According to CNN, dozens of police officers had approached protesters near the foot of the bridge on the Canadian side -- in the city of Windsor -- on Saturday. Following this, some protesters moved away on their own.

Later, the Windsor Police tweeted: "Enforcement continuing, individuals who are located within the demonstration area are subject to arrest. People are advised to immediately vacate the area."
According to CNN, the move came after a judge issued an injunction allowing police to begin clearing the bridge area and ending the blockade that has snarled supply chains and alarmed political leaders.
The judge had ordered the demonstrators to end the blockade by Friday at 7 pm.

The protests in Canada began in January with the truck drivers protesting against the new rules forcing the Canadian truckers crossing the US-Canadian border to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or face quarantine in their homes for two weeks when they return.
