China: Coal mine roof collapse leaves 21 dead in Shaanxi province

Beijing, Jan 13 (IBNS): The roof of a coal mine collapsed in China's Shaanxi Province which left at least 21 people dead, media reports said on Sunday.

The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Lijiagou coal mine of the Baiji Mining Co. Ltd. in the city of Shenmu, reported Xinhua news agency.

As per the Chinese news agency at that time, 87 people were working underground.  

Among them, 66 people have been rescued from the mine.

An investigation into the incident is currently going on.
