China: Knife attack in hospital leaves two dead, 21 injured

| @indiablooms | May 07, 2024, at 10:32 pm

At least two people died and 21 others were injured in a knife attack in a hospital in China's Yunnan Province, media reports said on Tuesday.

The attack took place at around 11:37 a.m. on Tuesday when a man assaulted people with a knife at a local hospital in the county, according to the county's public security bureau as quoted by Xinhua news agency.

An investigation into the incident is currently going on.

Details about the attacker have not been revealed so far.

It is still not clear whether the attacker has been arrested.

Earlier media reports claimed 10 people were injured or killed in the attack.

Owning a private gun is illegal in China.

The country has witnessed several mass stabbing incidents in recent times.

A knife attack outside a kindergarten school in southern China’s Guangdong region last year left at least six people dead and one injured.
