Dubai Marina high-rise blaze doused after six-hour battle; over 3,800 safely evacuated

Dubai: Authorities in Dubai successfully contained a massive fire that erupted late Friday night in a 67-storey residential tower in the Marina area, Khaleej Times reported.

The Dubai Media Office (DMO) confirmed that firefighters worked continuously for six hours to bring the blaze under control at Marina Pinnacle, also known as Tiger Tower.

A total of 3,820 residents from 764 apartments were evacuated safely without any injuries, thanks to the swift response of Dubai Civil Defence teams and specialised units.

The DMO, in a 2.21am update on Saturday, praised the efficient evacuation efforts and confirmed that emergency protocols were effectively followed.

Authorities are now working with the tower’s developer to provide temporary housing for the displaced residents, emphasising that the safety and well-being of those affected remains a top priority.

On Saturday morning, Khaleej Times published visuals shared by a reader that showed smoke still lingering above the tower, even hours after the fire had been brought under control.

According to the DMO, this residual smoke is a result of continued cooling operations, a standard part of post-fire safety measures.

"Control measures remain in place and the situation is fully managed by the firefighting teams," the media office stated, according to the report.

While the exact cause of the blaze remains unknown, officials noted this is not the first incident at Marina Pinnacle.

A fire had earlier broken out on May 25, 2015, when a kitchen fire on the 47th floor spread to the 48th before being extinguished.

The tower is also located near The Torch, another Dubai skyscraper that suffered two major fires in 2015 and 2017.

Despite the scale of the operation and the building’s history of fire-related incidents, no injuries or fatalities were reported this time.
