Cairo, May 16 (IBNS) Ousted Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi has been sentenced to death by a court in the country in connection with a mass prison break in 2011 on Saturday, media reports said.

Morsi, who was the first freely elected president of the country,  has been already jailed for 20 years for inciting violence against protesters.

"An Egyptian court has sentenced ousted president Mohammed Morsi to death over a mass prison break in 2011," BBC reported.

Following mass protests, Morsi was deposed by the country's military in July 2013.

Large number of his supporters have been arrested since then.
