Explosion at French nuclear plant, several reported injured

Paris, Feb 9 (IBNS) : Several people are reported injured in a massive explosion that took place at a French nuclear power plant near the English Channel, media reports said.

Firefighters were alerted to the blast and a fire in the engine room at EDF’s Flamanville plant in northern France, Ouest France reported.

The reports quoted authorities as saying that  there is not believed to be any nuclear risk because the explosion was outside the nuclear zone.

M6 radio said five people were slightly injured.

However, the extent of the damage is yet to be ascertained..

Emergency services rushed to the plant.
