Gunmen strike in Pakistan: Two Hazara community members shot dead
At least two members of the Hazara community were killed and three others injured in a suspected targeted attack in Quetta on Sunday, according to media reports.
Senior police officer Muhammad Khair Sumalani told Dawn News that the victims were attacked while returning to Hazara Town from the Hazarganji vegetable market.
“Unidentified armed men riding motorcycles opened fire on their vehicle, killing two people on the spot and injuring three,” he said.
Police Suspect Targeted Killing
Sumalani described the incident as a suspected “targeted killing,” adding that police and personnel from the Frontier Corps rushed to the scene shortly after the attack.
Victims Shifted to Hospital
Wasim Bag, spokesperson for Civil Hospital, confirmed that two bodies and three injured individuals were brought to the facility.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
Community Protests After Attack
In the aftermath of the incident, members of the Hazara community staged protests and blocked the Western Bypass in Quetta, demanding justice and enhanced security.
