Hindu family-owned temple set on fire in Bangladesh

A temple belonging to a family was set on fire by miscreants in Bangladesh's Turag area on Friday.

A case has been filed with the Turag police station over the incident.

Nuruzzaman, the investigation officer at Turag police station, told Dhaka Tribune that unidentified perpetrators allegedly set fire to the family temple of Babul Chandra Ghosh, a resident of the Dhour area in Turag.

An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.

Babul Chandra Ghosh, the plaintiff in the case, told Prothom Alo, that they were sleeping on Friday night after taking dinner when around 2.30 am they heard footsteps and found that the temple was on fire.

He said the fire was doused with the help of locals.

The incident happened amid ongoing atrocities faced by Hindus in Bangladesh  ever since the new interim government took control of the country following the fall of former PM Sheikh Hasina-led regime.
