I provided them shelter and food, not you: Romanian Mayor tells Jyotiraditya Scindia as India evacuates nationals

A spat between Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Romanian Mayor broke out at a relief camp where the former went to receive the Indian students who were evacuated from war-hit Ukraine.

In a video posted by several Congress leaders, the Mayor was heard telling Scindia, "Please explain to them when they leave home... Hey, hey, I provided them shelter and food, not you."

Scindia was caught interrupting him saying, "Let me decide what I am going to speak on. Hold on. Let me tell them what I had to tell them."

Later, the Aviation Minister was heard acknowledging the Romanian government's help.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday hit out at the Modi government over the evacuation process or Operation Ganga saying, "Evacuation is a duty, not a favour".

In a video tweeted by Gandhi, a student was heard complaining saying, "How can you call this an evacuation? We are brought from a country, Romania, which was already safe.

"We were not reached out by the embassy in Ukraine where we were in danger. We were just asked to board a bus and go..." an Indian national was shown telling NDTV.
