Jhelum, Nov 16 (IBNS): At least nine people were injured when gunmen opened fire at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters while they were going to a rally in Pakistan's Jhelum district on Sunday, media reports said.

The injured people were rushed to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.

"The PTI has accused a PML-N leader and former MPA Chaudhry Nadim Khadim of the armed attack," Geo News reported.

PTI supremo Imran Khan tweeted: "Condemn attack on PTI unarmed workers' rally heading to Jhelum jalsa.Prayers 4 recovery of all our workers.Hold PMLN leadership responsible."

The PML-N denied conducting  such an attack.

Speaking to Geo News Khadim said, "The [PTI] rally marched on my house and opened fire. They fought with my men and opened fire at my residence, and my men responded in defence.”
