Kartarpur of concern: Pakistani boy, Indian girl use holy shrine complex to meet; Pak sends back girl

| @indiablooms | Dec 03, 2019, at 10:38 am

Islamabad/IBNS:  Kartarpur Corridor opening is bringing new concerns for the Sikh community when it was reported that an Indian girl who used the visit to meet a Pakistani boy she had befriended on social media has gone missing in Pakistan. The boy and the girl had tried to use the holy shrine complex to meet each other recently.

While an ANI report said the girl went missing and Pakistan police had arrested four men from Lahore and Faisalabad in connection with the incident, latest reports said the girl was sent back to India by Pakistan authorities.

According to information, about four days ago the girl went to Katarpur to pay obeisance as well as to meet the boy and both interacted in the Gurdwara' sanctum sanatorium and even took Langar together.

She reportedly told the Pakistan authorities that it was difficult to get the visa to the neighbouring nation, and so she decided to use Kartarpur Corridor for the purpose.

The Pakistan Muslim boy, who was detained and taken for questioning, revealed that they were hooked to each other on social media and planned to meet in this way.

No doubt the security agencies are baffled if sources are to be believed.

The landmark Kartarpur Corridor was inaugurated last month.

India had signed the agreement with Pakistan on Oct 24, 2019 on the modalities for operationalisation of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor at Zero Point, International Boundary, Dera Baba Nanak.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Nov 9 from the Indian side opened the Kartarpur Corridor, the crossborder pathway, which will allow the Sikh pilgrims in India visit Gurudwara Kartapur Sahib in Pakistan.
