Kim Jong-un, wife attend K-pop concert in Pyongyang

Pyongyang, Apr 2 (IBNS): Ahead of the historic Korean bi-lateral meet between the North and the South, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and his wife attended a K-pop concert in the latter's national capital Pyongyang on Sunday, reports said.

The South Korean performers were the first musical delegation to visit the neighbouring nation in a decade's time.

Relationship between the two nations have improved vastly since the Winter Olympics, which took place earlier this year in Pyeongchang.

During the games, the North had send a delegation of 22 members to the South, led by Kim Yong-nam, the country's ceremonial head of state and its highest ranking official.

The meeting also witnessed the participation of Kim Jong-un's sister Kim Yo-jong.

Kim Yo-jong also became the first member from Pyongyang's ruling family to visit South Korea since the end of the 1950-53 Korean War.

Following a few more meetings between Seoul and Pyongyang, both the nations declared that the meeting between Kim Jong-un and  Moon Jae-in, South Korea's President, will take place in the border village of Panmunjom on April 27.

Kim is also expected to hold a meeting with US President Donald Trump sometime later this year.

However, the US has said that its leader will only hold talks with Kim if North Korea agrees to denuclearize, after Trump agreed to meet him.

Last week, reports from the Chinese media stated that Kim Jong-un made an official four-day trip to Beijing to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The trip was Kim's first foreign visit after resuming office in 2011.

Reacting to Kim's meeting with Jinping, Trump said he was happy with the development, however, he stated that 'maximum sanction and pressure' must be maintained against North Korea 'at all cost'.
