Toronto, Nov 4 (IBNS): A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to the vicious sexual assault and murder of a mother of three inside Toronto’s Rexdale apartment tower in last January.

On January 30, around 4:45 a.m. Toronto Police received a call, about a sudden death in an apartment at 121 Kendleton Drive.

Police confirmed that an acquaintance of the 34-year-old deceased Sylvia Consuelo, came to her building to socialize with her and found her dead in the apartment.

During investigation, the autopsy report revealed by the police said that Consuelo was brutally assaulted for over an hour before she was finally suffocated to death.

A man wearing a leather jacket and a bandana was spotted in the security surveillance cameras, calmly walking down the hallways to and from her unit at times when she was killed.

According to media reports, Hank Idsinga, Detective Sergeant of Toronto Police said in February that the suspect entered the victim’s building through an underground tunnel connected from a nearby building.

Consuelo, had some mental health issues and as per police reports she was addicted to drugs. Despite being a mother of three children, she lived alone and supported herself through prostitution.

However, investigators did not bring in a relationship status link between the victim and the suspect.

On Thursday, Toronto based Najib Amin was identified as a suspect and was taken into custody, on account of first-degree murder.

Amin is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
