Miraculous Thailand cave evacuation ends with the rescue of all 13 trapped
Bangkok, July 10 (IBNS): Ending a three-day-long complex evacuation process and over a two-week ordeal, rescuers successfully brought out all the 12 boys and their football coach trapped in a flooded Thailand cave, officials said.
'We are not sure if this is a miracle, a science, or what. All the thirteen Wild Boars are now out of the cave,' said the Thai Navy Seal on a Facebook post.
The rescue operation commenced on Sunday after reports emerged few days ago that the missing boys and their coach were found alive inside the cave. The rescue team comprised of about 1000 people, including expert cave divers across the world.
Rescuers pulled out the trapped people one after another since Sunday and the mission was completed on Tuesday when the final person evacuated from the cave.
"12 wild pigs and coaches out of the cave. Safe everyone. This time, waiting to pick up 4 Frogs," posted the Thai Navy Seal on their Facebook page.
The post (frogs) referred to a rescue doctor and three Navy Seals who stayed with the group are still to come out.
Ivan Karadzic, one of the divers on the international rescue team, told BBC that 'he is filled with awe at how incredibly strong the boys are.'
"I cannot understand how cool these small kids are," he was quoted in a footage from Royal Thai Navy.
The boys are members of the Wild Boar football team in Thailand.
They went missing since June 23 when heavy rains caused flooding in the caves, trapping them inside.
British divers found them alive last week.
The features inside of the cave made the rescue operation tough as it involved both diving and climbing by rescue workers.
The team had ventured inside the attraction while it was dry, but a heavy rainfall later inundated the area, making it difficult for the team to return back.
The Thai authorities took a bold decision to rescue them after there were fears that it could take months for the flood waters to recede. Finally, the operation ended on Tuesday with all members of the football team safely rescued.
Tributes started pouring in with the news of all boys being rescued.
British Prime Minister Theresa May tweeted, 'Delighted to see the successful rescue of those trapped in the caves in Thailand. The world was watching and will be saluting the bravery of all those involved.'
