MP Liton killing: Bangladesh court sentences former JaPa MP Abdul Quader Khan to life imprisonment

Dhaka, June 11 (IBNS): A Bangladesh court on Tuesday  sentenced former Jatiya Party (JaPa) MP Abdul Quader Khan to life imprisonment in an arms case filed in connection with the killing of Gaibandha-1 MP Manjurul Islam Liton, media reports said.

The verdict was given by district and session's judge Dilip Kumar Bhowmik.

Liton was shot dead by attackers in Masterpara in Bamandanga union of Sundarganj upazila  on Dec 31, 206.

He was immediately taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

He was declared brought dead.

Detectives arrested Abdul Quader Khan, former Jatiya Party MP from Gaibandha-1 constituency, from his residence at Rahman Nagar Ziladarpara in Bogura district town on 21 February 2017, reported Prothom Alo news paper.

On 26 February of the year, he gave a confessional statement before the court under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, reported the news paper.
