Seoul, Apr 23 (IBNS): North Korea on Saturday launched what appeared to be a ballistic missile from a submarine in the East Sea, South Korean officials said.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) was quoted as saying by South Korea's Yonhap news agency that North Korea fired a projectile that it believes was a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) around 6:30 p.m.

The JCS said the missile flew for about 30 kilometers.

South Korean government source told the news agency: " This projectile, which is believed to be an SLBM, was airborne for a couple of minutes."
