New survey bombshell: 30% of Americans think at least one of the Trump assassination attempts was ‘staged’
Nearly one-third of Americans believe that at least one of the three attempts on US President Donald Trump’s life over the last two years was staged, according to a new survey.
For each of the three alleged assassination attempts, a majority of Americans said either that the incident was staged or that they were unsure, averaging 54 per cent across all three events, according to the survey conducted by NewsGuard and YouGov.
The survey found that only 38 per cent of Americans believe all three assassination attempts were genuine.
The national survey of 1,000 Americans, conducted by YouGov on behalf of NewsGuard between April 28 and May 4, asked respondents whether they believed any of the three attempts on Trump’s life — at a July 2024 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, at Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course in September 2024, and at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April 2026 — had been staged.
According to the survey, 21 per cent of Democrats said they believed all three events were staged, compared with 11 per cent of Independents and three per cent of Republicans.
Among the 12 per cent of Americans who said all three incidents were staged, 55 per cent identified as Democrats, 38 per cent as Independents, and seven per cent as Republicans.

The survey also found a significant partisan divide regarding the most recent incident at the April 25, 2026, White House Correspondents’ Dinner, with 34 per cent of Democrats and 13 per cent of Republicans saying they believed it was staged — a gap of 21 percentage points.

Last month, Trump survived an apparent assassination attempt in Washington, DC.
The incident occurred outside the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner at the Washington Hilton, where approximately 2,500 guests were in attendance, including President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
According to investigators, 31-year-old suspect Cole Thomas Allen attempted to pass through a security checkpoint before entering the ballroom but was stopped by security personnel.
Authorities said Allen then allegedly tried to force his way through, prompting an armed confrontation with officers.
The suspect was not injured and was taken into custody at the scene.
