OPP seeks public assistance to identify motorcyclists driving dangerously on GTA highways

Toronto, Aug 11 (IBNS): Ontario Provincial Police sought help from people to identify several groups of motorcyclists who were driving dangerously on major GTA highways four days ago.

On Sunday, several groups of motorcyclists blocked the highways 409, 401, 403 by driving dangerously in the afternoon.

The activity by the motorcyclists disrupted the traffic between 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm, creating problems for several commuters.

OPP Sgt Kerry Schmidt said: "Not only were they driving dangerously and aggressively, at sometimes they came on a dead stop on the highway causing congestion, chaos, frustration for other motorists and really putting everyone at risk on the highways."

He said the dangerous driving could have easily resulted in accidents.

"There could easily have been crashes, collisions and secondary crashes had there been in that congestion behind us. All for them to rally together, perform stunts...we are not going to tolerate that..." Schmidt added.

Police is asking people to come forward to help them by providing images or videos or dash cam footage.

Schmidt took to Twitter to seek help from common people who were present on those highways when the bikers disrupted the traffic."Can you help identify these riders? Occurred on Sunday August 6, throughout GTA highways Call 416-317-8250 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-TIPS."
