Peshawar:  A jirga involving veteran Pakhtun leaders has asked the Pakistan government to review its foreign policy amid a volatile situation in war-torn Afghanistan.

Arranged by Mazdoor Kissan Party (MKP), the jirga in Charsadda district was attended by several leaders, including Qaumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, reports Pajhwok Afghan News.

MKP head Afzal Shah Khamosh, Awami National Party’s Mian Iftikhar Hussain and Aimal Wali Khan, Abdul Jalil Jan of the Jamait Ulema-i-Islam, lawmaker Mohsin Dawar and others reportedly attended the event.

The jirga later issued a 21-point declaration, condemned interference in Afghanistan’s internal affairs by neighbouring countries, reports the Afghanistan news agency.

Khamosh told journalists the jirga urged the government to revisit its foreign policy in the wake of the evolving situation in Afghanistan.
