Pakistan Army kills 22 terrorists in massive Khyber operation

Pakistani security forces killed 22 terrorists during a joint intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Khyber District, media reports said on Friday.

During the operation, following an intense exchange of fire, “22 khawarij belonging to Indian-sponsored Fitna-al-Khwarij were sent to hell,” Dawn News reported, quoting the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Fitna al Khawarij is a term used by Pakistan for terrorists associated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

“Due to cowardice and fear of being apprehended alive, khawarij resorted to indiscriminate firing, which resulted in the martyrdom of a 10-year-old innocent child,” the ISPR added.

The military’s media wing said weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the terrorists, who were actively involved in several terrorist activities in the area.

According to reports, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the Pakistani security forces for the successful operation.

Pakistan has been witnessing a sharp rise in terror attacks since 2025.

According to the Annual Security Report 2025 by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded a significant surge in violence last year, with fatalities rising from 1,620 in 2024 to 2,331 in 2025.
