Pakistan: Authorities suspend Balakot girls school staff over music function

| @indiablooms | Mar 22, 2021, at 12:26 am

Islamabad: Deputy commissioner of Mansehra district Dr Qasim Ali Khan has suspended all staff members of the Government Primary School for Girls in Pakistan's Balakot region for a nighttime music function hosted in the campus, media reports said.

He formed a committee led by the assistant commissioner of Balakot and comprising officials of the education department to look into the matter and fix responsibility for strict action, reports Dawn News.

The move was made by the authority after the residents met the deputy commissioner in his office and sought action against school staff and event organisers.

Dr Qasim told Dawn News such music functions couldn’t be allowed in public sector schools and colleges, especially those for women.
