Islamabad:  Pakistan might soon witness gas shortfall touching its highest level this year, media reports said on Tuesday.

Sources within the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) told Geo News that the gas supply is 17 million cubics while the demand is over 25 million cubics which might increase next month.

"The domestic consumers will receive the gas supply three times a day," said the sources, adding that the commercial and industrial sectors will also suffer.

The power, fertilisers and CNG sector will also get less gas.

The sources also said that imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) is very expensive which is why less amount of orders was placed.
