A German diplomat has been found dead in his apartment located at the Diplomatic Enclave in Pakistan's Islamabad city, media reports said on Tuesday.

He was identified as Thomas Fielder.

He reportedly served as the Third Secretary at the German Embassy in Islamabad.

According to the police, the embassy staff visited Fielder's flat when he failed to report to work, reported The Express Tribune.

Embassy officials authorised staff to force entry into the apartment after repeated attempts to contact him failed.

They recovered the body of the diplomat in a deteriorated state.

The body of the diplomat was shifted to the hospital.

A post-mortem examination is pending as the German embassy is seeking formal permission from Fielder's family in Germany, particularly his wife, reported The Express Tribune.

The cause of the death is still not clear.

Police said they are investigating the case from all angles.
