Pakistan:  Imran Khan-govt orders compliance with UN curbs against Taliban

Islamabad/UNI: The Pakistan government has issued ‘a statutory notification’ ordering compliance with the United Nations’ Security Council (UNSC) sanctions against Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani Network.

The government notification calls on “all persons” to fully apply the directives in the order against the listed individuals and entities. It directed the enforcement of the assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo on the Afghan insurgent group as directed by the UNSC sanctions.

Pakistan has always denied providing support to the Taliban, and has claimed to be in full compliance with UNSC sanctions against the group, the government said.

On August 18, Pakistan submitted its initial draft report to the joint group of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) highlighting progress and compliance of remaining 13 points out of 27 action points.

According to Ary News Pakistan, on August 21, the government imposed sanctions on more than 88 terrorists associated with different terrorist groups, including Daesh, al-Qaida, and Taliban.
