slamabad, Jun 7 (Xinhua): At least three people were killed and three others suffered injuries when an explosion took place in a vehicle in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province on Friday, local media reported.

According to reports, the vehicle coming from the country's southern port city of Karachi suddenly caught fire after a huge blast near the Zero Point area of Ziarat, a district in Balochistan province.

Following the incident, police personnel, fire brigade and rescue teams immediately reached the site of the incident and shifted the injured people including two women to a nearby hospital. All the injured are critical.

The ill-fated vehicle was carrying members of the same family who came to Ziarat to spend Eid al-Fitr holidays, local Urdu TV channel Express reported.

According to the initial investigation, the blast could have been caused by liquefied petroleum gas cylinder explosion. However, police are yet to ascertain the exact nature of the explosion.
