A married woman was shot dead in a suspected honour killing case in Pakistan's Karachi city on Thursday, media reports said.

Razia Sanaullah, 40, was shot and killed inside a home in Gulshan-i-Buner, police told Dawn News.

Speaking to the Pakistani newspaper, Malir Superintendent of Police (SP) Saeed Rind said the police suspected involvement of close relatives behind the murder.

“During the initial probe, police have received some clues, which have suggested that the incident might be an outcome of so-called honour,” Rind said.

He said the woman's relatives were 'unhappy' with her activities and did not attend her funeral.

The body was later shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal formalities.

Police are investigating the case.
