Islamabad, Mar 18 (IBNS): Seeking 'medical treatment', Pakistan's former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf left for Dubai on Friday.

The move was made after Pakistan's interior ministry issued a notification to remove his name from the exit control list (ECL).

Musharraf  said he loves his nation and will return to Pakistan in few weeks or months.

Musharraf told DawnNews, "I am a commando and I love my homeland. I will come back in a few weeks or months."

Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday said country's former president will be allowed to  travel abroad for treatment after the Supreme Court lifted a ban on his foreign travel.

Khan said Musharraf  has committed to face all cases against him  in court.

Musharraf is facing a treason trial for clamping emergency in Pakistan on Nov 3, 2007.

After his mane was placed on the ECL on Apr 5, 2013, he was barred from traveling abroad.
