Rawalpindi: The price of chicken has breached Rs.700 mark in Pakistan's Rawalpindi, adding more trouble for people of the cash-strapped nation.

The poultry meat was sold between Rs.700 to Rs. 705 in the country on Thursday.

On the other hand, poultry farmers claim that over 50 percent of farms have been closed therefore people were not only facing the worst shortage of chicken but also high prices, reports The News International.

People belonging to different walks of life strongly protested against ever-increasing chicken prices and demanded of the government to control the issue as fast as possible.

The wholesale dealers told ‘The News’ that if the government does not consider this issue and resolve it, people will get one-kilogram chicken meat at Rs. 1000 soon.

The Government should take up this issue to provide chicken meat at cheaper prices, the wholesale dealers warned.
