PPP Chairperson Zardari slams Imran Khan govt over petrol price hike

Islamabad: PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday slammed PM Imran Khan-led government over the issue of petrol price hike and said it is a gift to the citizens of the country.

He said the only way inflation can be ended is by removing the Imran Khan-led government from power.

“Imran Khan claimed that 2021 would be the year of prosperity, but 2022 has arrived, where have the claims gone,” asked the PPP chairman after the government announced an Rs 4 increase in petrol price as quoted by Geo News.

Bilawal claimed that the PPP faced the worst economic crisis in the world's history but did not let the citizens bear the brunt of the inflation.

He urged the federal government to reduce the rates of petroleum products in line with international prices.

New Year did not give bright news for people of Pakistan as the government hiked the price of petrol by Rs. 4 per liter.

According to a notification issued by the Finance Division on Friday, the price of petrol and high-speed diesel(HSD) will rise by Rs4 per litre for the first 15 days of January 2022, reports Geo News.

The new price of petrol became effective from Jan 1.

The increase has been announced to meet the petroleum levy target agreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Pakistani news channel reported.
