Rescued Thai boys to be inducted into Buddhist monastery

Bangkok, July 24 (IBNS): In accordance with tradition, the rescued Thai boys and their coach will be inducted into Buddhist monastery, reports said.

Every member from the rescued group, except one, will have their heads shaved and don robes to be ordained as Buddhist monks. The boy not taking part is a Christian.

It is a tradition for males who go through adversary in Thailand to follow the aforementioned process.

Additionally, they will spend nine days in a monastery.

Speaking about the ceremony, the grandfather of a rescued boy told the BBC: "They should spend time in a monastery. It's for their protection. It's like they died but now have been reborn."

In a dramatic rescue operations, spanning several hours, the 12 boys, along with their football coach, were rescued from Thailand's Tham Luang caves.

The team had entered the tourist attraction following a match, but later were struck inside the cave as heady rains inundated the opening, rendering it dangerous for the visitors to come out.
