Russia: Metro derailment kills 20

Moscow, July 15 (IBNS) At least 20 people died as a metro train derailed between two stations in Moscow on Tuesday, media reports said.

More than 100 others were injured in the mishap which occurred during the morning rush hour.

The Russian Investigative Committee believed there were no signs of a terrorist act in connection to the mishap.

“There are no signs of a terrorist act; this is most likely a man-made disaster,” Russian Investigative Committee Spokesman Vladimir Markin was quoted as saying by Ria Novosti.

Markin  said the reason behind the mishap are being investigated.

Meanwhile, Moscow has declared Wednesday as a day of mourning for those killed in the derailment.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin was quoted as saying to Russian state news agency Ria Novosti: "Moscow will recognize a day of mourning tomorrow."
