Russian metro explosion kills ten, investigators call terrorist attack

Moscow, Apr 3 (IBNS): In what is being considered as a "terror attack", a bomb explosion in a metro at St. Petersburg in Russia killed ten people while leaving several injured on Monday, media reports.

Russia's Investigative Committee has stated the explosion as a terrorist attack.

The explosion took place in a few miles away from President Vladimir Putin, who was also in the city at that moment.

Though there have been no claims by any terrorist group yet, the President has ensured that investigations will be conducted.

According to preliminary reports, ten people were killed in the explosion inside the metro train at the Sennaya Square station in St. Petersburg, emergency services told TASS.

During the rescue operation, makeshift bomb have been deactivated at metro station in St. Petersburg, reports said.

Following the blast, seven metro stations in the city have been closed.
