Sharjah cuts working week to 4 days, announces a 3-day weekend

Dubai/IBNS: The southern Gulf emirate of Sharjah on Thursday announced a shift to a three-day weekend for the official sector, media reports said.

The move was taken after the United Arab Emirates Tuesday slashed the official working week to four-and-a-half days, making Saturday and Sunday weekend.

The Sharjah Executive Council said its decision was taken "in line with the UAE vision to enhance its competitive position."

The working week for Sharjah's government agencies will be reduced to Monday to Thursday. It will be a weekend between Friday and Sunday.
