Spain: Pakistan man arrested for spreading 'jihadi propaganda'

Madrid, Sept 19 (IBNS): A Pakistani national has been arrested by Spanish security officials on suspicion of promoting terrorism and spreading Islamic jihadi propaganda on social media networks, media reports said.

A ministry statement said that the 25-year-old resident of the northern Catalan city of Lleida was part of a cell partially dismantled with the arrest of three Pakistani brothers in Lleida last year, Dawn News reported quoting Spain's Interior Ministry.

As per the newspaper report, the ministry said the Pakistani national was detained on Tuesday and he had become "more engrossed in radical activities" in recent weeks.

Attacks in the Catalan capital, Barcelona, and another Catalan coastal town in August killed at least 16 people, media reports said.

Militant group Islamic State had claimed responsibility for the attacks.
