| @indiablooms | Jan 11, 2021, at 02:46 pm

Washington/UNI: United States Secretary of State Mike R Pompeo said on Sunday that a strong 'Quad' would ensure multilateralism in the world.

Sec. Pompeo took to Twitter to emphasise the role of the 'Quad' in ensuring freedom of navigation in the Indo-Pacific sea routes.

"EffectiveMultilateralism means a reinvigorated Quad: like-minded values-based partnership among the U.S., Australia, India, and Japan, advancing a free & open Indo-Pacific."

He added that the State Department's efforts have led to increased cooperation among the Quad Nations.

"Thanks to our Quad diplomacy, India invited Australia to its annual Malabar exercises in the Indian Ocean. Would've been unthinkable only a year ago. #ResultsNotRhetoric"

The Quadrilateral Security Dialogue or Quad in short is an informal strategic forum consisting of the United States, India, Japan and Australia, it is maintained through semi-regular summits, information exchanges and military drills among the member countries.
