Toronto, Oct 16 (IBNS): A 17-year-old teen boy died after a shooting incident happened early Sunday morning in northwest Toronto.

The victim as identified by the Toronto Police is Jarryl Hagley of Toronto.

According to police, a call was received around 1:40 a.m. about a shooting at the Pizza Pizza at 1937 Weston Road, north of Lawrence Avenue West.

In a news release, police said, Hagley was eating with his friends in the restaurant, when gunmen entered and began firing at his direction.

The Paramedics rushed to the spot minutes after the incident happened and took Hagley to the nearest trauma center.

Const. Caroline De Kloet, Toronto Police spokeswoman said the teen was declared dead in hospital. She said no one else was injured.

However, De Kloet could not confirm whether Hagley was targeted or if the shooting was random.

She said, "The shooting is now a homicide."

Police neither have descriptions of the suspects nor could confirm the number of gunmen associated with the murder act, however De Kloet said there was "more than one."

Large number of police are stationed near the crime scene to investigate the culpable ‘homicide act’.

Staff Sgt. Tim Jacob, of Toronto Police Service's 12 Division, said officers are gathering information about the case at the scene.

Jacob says, "Witnesses are being interviewed.”

He further requests public, "Anyone with information is welcome to come forward."
