Trump cabinet probables likely to clear Canadian pipeline

Calgary, Dec 22: (IBNS): Two notable Texans were selected by US President-elect Donald Trump for key positions in his cabinet and both of them are staunch supporter of Canadian pipeline projects and love Canadian oil, reported The Epoch Times.

Trump proposed the name of Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson as a secretary of state and Ricky Perry the Ex Governor of Texas, as the energy secretary.

Ricky Perry while announcing his run for the political office last year promised that he would waste no time in approving pipeine.

He said: "I will do it on day one".

Canada's former Ambassador to US Gary Doer recalled different meetings with both men and they always expressed their support for all pipeline projects in Canada.

He also recalled a meeting in Washington's Canadian  embassy where Perry and other pro-pipeline governors were present.

Gary Doer also met Rex Tillerson at a dinner table in Washington where Tillerson talked about various ongoing EXXONMOBIL projects in  Canada including 4.6 billion potential barrels in Alberta and investmentsin lower emitting extraction technology.

"He was very proud of those investments" recalled Doer.

In that dinner Tillerson deplored that XL Keystone pipeline project had been stalled by Obama Administration but Trump hinted that he would revive it soon.

According to Tillerson this was a prime example of government meddling.

At a meeting in Economic Club of Washington he said "The United States and Canada  both need this vital pipeline and Keystone XL pipeline would improve U.S. competitiveness,  it would increase North American energy  security, and it would strengthen the relationship with one of our most important allies and most valued trading partners. "

"But approval of the pipeline has been taken out of the hands of experienced careel officials and it has become a tool of political manipulation".

However his nomination is suject to the approval of Congress and  many lawmakers were worried about his years-long relationship with Vladimir Putin, for he is expected to undergo intense questioning, particularly in the context of conspiracy theories and Trump's own relations with Russia.

As for Perry the biggest stumbling block is environmental grounds as the anti pipeine group 350.org already issued a statement titled "ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER CLIMATE DENIER".
