Washington, Mar 8 (Sputnik/UNI) US President Donald Trump and Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis during a meeting in Washington discussed security cooperation and the need to protect telecommunications networks, the White House said in a press release.

"Trump and Babis reaffirmed the importance of energy security and diversification in Europe, as well as the urgent need to protect telecommunications networks," the release said after the leaders’ meeting at the White House on Thursday.

The two leaders, the release added, also discussed the importance of free and reciprocal trade across the Atlantic along with security cooperation including within NATO.

The United States has expressed major concerns over foreign telecommunications networks such as China's Huawei and ZTE.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has been out around the world over the past several months to share information on Huawei and make sure countries understand the risk of using the company’s technology, especially in the areas of privacy and national security.
